Advancing Climate Health Pathways: Heat and Air Pollution
May 12th, 2026 | Virtual Convening
The Asia Climate Health Resilience Hub convened its second workshop, Advancing Climate Pathways: Heat and Air Pollution, on 12 May 2026, bringing together subnational government representatives, technical experts, and partner organisations from Indonesia, the Philippines, India, Malaysia, Singapore, Cambodia, and Bangladesh.
The session featured a technical keynote by Dr Pallavi Pant (Health Effects Institute), who highlighted how heat and air pollution together increase health risks and underscored the need for integrated data systems and composite air–health indices. Representatives from Sumedang, Denpasar, Tingloy, Cainta, and Quezon City shared updates on local efforts spanning surveillance systems, heat action planning, vector control, and community-based health interventions. Partner organisations, including Health Effects Institute, Sunway Centre for Planetary Health, CivicDataLab, and CISDI Indonesia, contributed perspectives on scalable models for climate–health resilience. The workshop reinforced the importance of moving from reactive responses to anticipatory, evidence-based approaches, with a strong emphasis on cross-sectoral collaboration and city-led implementation pathways.
